CAOS PRO RECOVERY DAMPER

$24.99 $47.00

Safety is the most important consideration when performing a vehicle recovery. Make sure you?re prepared for all situations and don?t get caught out on the tracks or the beach without a CAOS Recovery Dampener ? the perfect addition to any recovery kit!

When used correctly, Recovery Dampeners absorb some of the recoil caused by a failure in recovery equipment (such as snatch straps or winch ropes), the result of which is a significant reduction in the chance of serious injury of bystanders when recovery equipment fails. The CAOS Recovery Dampener is designed to weigh down a winch rope (or snatch strap) when it fails and breaks under load, which reduces the speed and kinetic energy of the rope and directs the rope downward and away from potential impact with vehicles are bystanders.

How to safely use the CAOS Recovery Dampener when winching:

  1. Lay the dampener in an open position on the ground in line with the winch line. Never approach a winch line under tension. The line should be loose when installing the dampener.
  2. Fold the dampener over the cable. Ensure the dampener is in the central third of the line length. Secure the additional strap with the adjustable buckles to ensure the dampener stays in place during the recovery.
  3. Fill external pockets with loose sand or dirt. Never use rocks or stones.
  4. Ensure all people, pets and property are well clear of the line before putting any tension on the winch line.
  5. As the cable is pulled in, you may need to adjust the position of the dampener. Always release the tension on the line before approaching and making any adjustments.
