The Best Day Trips Around Brisbane

Summer is the perfect time to head out for day trips to explore your local area.

Day trips are a great way to get some fresh air and relax, without the hassle of having to book a campsite or carry camping gear. They’re also convenient if you’re busy, since they take less time to organise.

Before heading off on a day trip, think about how far you want to go and how much time you want to spend driving. There are plenty of good spots around Brisbane for day trips. Here’s some of our best day trip locations to inspire you:

Straddie

North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah) is a natural paradise with beaches, surf, two lakes, bushland and wildlife. The ferry ride from Cleveland across Moreton Bay takes about an hour, and you can expect to see turtles, dolphins, and sometimes dugongs.

On the island, there is plenty of opportunity to camp, as well as great four-wheel-drive bush tracks and kilometres of sandy beaches you can drive on.

Springbrook National Park

Explore ancient rainforests and gushing waterfalls in Springbrook National Park. Just 1.5 hours from Brisbane, Springbrook is a great place for fresh mountain air and breathtaking views. There’s plenty of bushwalking tracks and picnic spots.

Plus, if you stay until evening, you can see glow worms in the caves!

Maleny

Maleny is a refreshing mountain escape, located in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.

The town lies only 90 minutes drive from Brisbane, and has country charm, cafes, local shops and foodie experiences. There’s also national parks nearby and magnificent views of the Glasshouse Mountains, where you can stop in and have some epic fun on the 4WD tracks.

Noosa North Shore

A little over 2 hours Drive from Brisbane, Noosa North Shore is a must do if you’re into 4WDing, surfing and fishing. Boasting over 80km of unspoilt beaches and forest wilderness ready to explore, it’s the perfect spot to spend a day or two enjoying what Queensland has to offer.

Bring your CAOS i-SUP, 4WD and beach gear for an epic day out!

Queen Mary Falls

One of South East Queensland’s best waterfalls locations, Queen Mary Falls boasts five spectacular falls.

The drive from Brisbane takes just over 2 hours, but is well worth it for the winding roads and scenery. Once there, you can take a 30 minute circuit walk that leads you past the waterfalls.
