CAOS Recovery Damper - two side damper, Orange when in use and Black outside when stored.
The must have product for any four-wheel drive with a winch. Most winches have large capacities but in the unlikely situation of a cable snapping during recovery, you need to be prepared for all possibilities.
A dual-purpose damper and storage bag.
Reflective strips for night recoveries.
Tough hardwearing poly canvas.
Internal Velcro for securing around the strap to prevent slippage when used on a hill.
Handy storage pockets for carrying heavy items to and from the anchor point.
How to use the winch damper:
Lay damper in an open position on the ground in line with the winch line. Never approach a winch line under tension. The line should be loose when installing the damper.
Fold the damper over the cable. Ensure the damper is in the central third of the line length. Secure the top Velcro strap around the line.
Fill external pockets with loose sand or dirt. Never use rocks or stones.
Ensure all people, pets and property are well clear of the line before putting any tension on the line.
As the cable is pulled in, you may need to adjust the position of the damper. Always release the tension on the line before approaching and making any adjustments.
